Job description:

A Consultant is immediately required for our fast growing sustainability and corporate social responsibility consultancy operating primarily in the Telecoms / consumer electronics / ICT sector. The consultant will be responsible for managing projects to deliver sustainability services to UK, European and US corporate clients - primarily major Telecoms companies and their suppliers.

epi has an excellent track record of implementing sustainability solutions that make both commercial and social sense; and are looking to add an innovative, commercially aware consultant to our team.

epi’s work with telecoms companies and their supply chain is unique amongst sustainability consultancies in our convergence of sustainability and commercial benefits. epi is not solely about delivering Environmental and Social impacts alongside bottom line benefit. We help clients to implement win-win sustainability initiatives that make sense commercially and ethically.

A typical example is our work with a leading German telecoms operator to design smartphone propositions that drive competitive advantage while also reducing embodied carbon emissions through greater sales of refurbished devices. Or our work with a group of telecoms companies to align their environmental requirements for their shared suppliers, reducing cost burden for suppliers while helping the telcos achieve their Scope 3 emissions reductions more quickly.

Role and responsibilities

The consultant will work with Directors and Senior Managers in the consulting team by undertaking tasks such as:

Developing consulting deliverables – delivering outputs for client engagements, such as reports, spreadsheet analysis, workshops and presentations
Programme management – managing groups of supplier companies as part of epi’s supplier development programs, including briefing and coordinating involved companies, working with them to develop carbon reduction plans and reporting progress to client sponsors
Baseline assessment and gap analysis – using epi’s proprietary tool and methodology to conduct baseline CSR assessments of client companies using client data, agreeing targets for improvement and developing forward improvement plans
Assisting in epi business development – supporting the consulting Director as required with development of presentations, proposals and statements of work for new consulting projects

Candidate requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

2-4 years of recent business experience in an area such as consulting, project management, business strategy/insight, data analysis, risk management, product management, supply chain management, sourcing & procurement or environmental auditing
Experience in Sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), carbon footprinting or Human Rights Due Diligence is beneficial but not essential - we can help you upskill in these areas
Experience in Telecoms or ICT or the Consumer Electronics sector is beneficial
Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college/university ideally in business, management, finance, social & environmental science, or similar fields of study
Microsoft skills including Power Point and Excel desired
Excellent organizational, project management and communication skills; attention to detail and ability to listen carefully, understand nuance and deliver precisely to requirements
Interest and curiosity to develop an understanding of technical aspects of sustainability such as Product Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), carbon emissions measurement in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), and regulatory developments such as the EU CSRD/CS3D and build a career in the rapidly growing field of corporate sustainability
Ability to thrive in a client-facing working environment, building positive collegiate working relationships with clients, hosting meetings in a punctual and professional way
Ability to deliver for multiple different client projects while managing competing deadlines pragmatically
Ability to work proactively and independently on tasks and take on feedback from senior consultants to iterate deliverables such as PowerPoint reports or Excel analysis documents quickly and to a high standard

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Pay: £40,000 – 50,000 per annum

Location, remuneration and working hours

This is a hybrid role based from your home office, requiring occasional epi office visits within the Midlands / M25 corridor. The majority of our client work is carried out by means of virtual communications so visits to client offices are infrequent.

Remuneration is negotiable for the right candidate.
