Job Summary: Registered Nurses can independently plan and implement routine nursing care in predictable situations using standards and knowledge obtained during education and preceptorship. RN II’s begin to assume leadership responsibility and need minimal supervision. An RN II has the ability to use accurate, clear, and concise oral and written communication. RN II’s will work as a team and maintain effective working relationships, use critical thinking skills, analyze, and communicate findings effectively. Incumbents require a basic computer literacy and the ability to effectively learn new software programs is required, as well as the ability to efficiently operate a variety of automated office equipment such as print/copy/scan/fax machines/calculators/etc. Minimum Qualifications for the Job: Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program. BSN preferred. License(s): Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license. Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS): All nursing departments within 30 days of hire, TEAM/BERT within 90 days of hire. Experience(s): Registered Nurse II: Advancement from an RN I or at least one (1) year, continuous experience in a comparable patient care setting. RNs must remain at this level for a minimum of one year before applying for advancement. Must float to one other unit within one (1) year of appointment. Registered Nurse III: Three (3) years of current clinical experience (Current indicates experience within the last five years from time of application) or, one (1) year of experience as a Bartlett RN II. An RN III is expected to establish a float in at least one primary area within one year of hire. Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
