Join our team for a dynamic 4-week project as a Field Data Mapper! This opportunity is perfect for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors and have meticulous attention to detail. In this role, you will be embarking on travels to various off-the-beaten-path locations to develop detailed maps of equipment used in the field. The position demands not only a passion for outdoor adventure, including both walking and hiking through diverse terrains but also the ability to drive to these remote areas. Quick adaptability to technical devices and processes is a must. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have their own vehicle available for use, as the project covers extensive ground to achieve its objectives efficiently.
Training will be provided for 4 hours, tentatively scheduled for April 16th at our Walnut Creek Office, consistent with previous sessions. Your main tasks will involve creating accurate equipment maps in the field, utilizing your skills in navigation and data collection while on foot, hiking, and driving.
Dates: Tuesday, April 16th - May 14th
Project Total Pay: $6,400 total for delivery of data with accurately labeled, completed points assigned to you. Payment made after the return of all equipment to Gridware.
Travel Required to: Walnut Creek, CA, once, for training on the first day, then:
Areas are within 1 - 2h drive from Sacramento
with overnight stays Monday - Thursday (paid for by the company)
Company credit card to cover gas & meals will be provided
Responsibilities:
- Focused Data Collection: Embark on a mission into remote areas to accurately collect data to assess signal strength of communications networks utilizing our proprietary IT platform
- Short-term Community Engagement: Act as a positive representative of our company during this brief period, interacting when necessary with curious local community members to facilitate data collection efforts
- Diligent Record-Keeping: Maintain thorough records of field activities, including data collection sheets, progress notes, and relevant observations to support project success
- Supportive Team Contribution: Offer insights and data from the field that could help refine our operational procedures, contributing to the project's overall success
Required Skills:
Candidates must have
- Proven Field Data Collection Abilities: Experience in similar short-term projects or the ability to quickly adapt to field data collection tasks
- Independence: Capable of following instructions from supervisors while working autonomously in remote settings
- Effective Communication: Strong documentation and reporting skills, along with the ability to professionally engage with team members and external parties as needed
- Tech Savviness: Ability to quickly learn and proficiently use specific data collection technology and software, ensuring effective and efficient data gathering
- Physical Capability and Mobility: Physically fit for outdoor work in various conditions and holding a valid driver's license with a clean record, prepared for extensive travel including some hiking during the assignment. Some areas are not road accessible and may require hiking
- A car for the full duration of the project and a valid driver's license
- Outdoor friendly professional attire (smart-casual outfit comfortable enough to hike in)
