Job Title: Data Architect / Senior Data Modeler – Transaction Hub Initiative
Location: Remote (U.S. preferred)
Start Date: Immediate
About the Opportunity
Seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Data Architect / Senior Data Modeler to lead the design and implementation of a Transaction Hub – a centralized, real-time operational data store that tracks end-to-end transaction workflows across various systems. This is a strategic and high-visibility initiative, with direct engagement from executive stakeholders including the CTO, CIO, and Head of Data.
This role requires a unique blend of deep data modeling expertise, real-time architecture design, and strong stakeholder communication skills. You will be instrumental in shaping the foundation of a scalable and future-ready data platform that supports mission-critical business functions such as payment processing, loan servicing, and customer lifecycle tracking.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders (Payments, Servicing, Data Teams) to understand transaction lifecycle workflows and data requirements.
• Design and implement a centralized transaction data model that captures real-time status changes across payment processors (e.g., Stripe, FIS) and internal systems.
• Build a scalable, modular, and future-proof architecture that can evolve with changing data sources and business processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure real-time data ingestion, processing, and persistence in appropriate operational data stores (e.g., Azure SQL, MongoDB, Synapse, Databricks).
• Lead data modeling efforts, including conceptual, logical, and physical model development and documentation.
Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for structured and semi-structured data.
Implement data modeling tools and techniques such as ER/Studio, ERwin, PowerDesigner, or equivalent.
• Evaluate and recommend optimal data storage and architecture patterns that support both current and future-state requirements.
• Interface with executive leadership to communicate architectural decisions, roadmap alignment, and progress updates.
• Support adjacent data initiatives such as Customer Hub (operational MDM) and Dealer Hub (legacy sunset and Salesforce integration).
Ideal Candidate Profile
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture and enterprise data modeling, with a strong understanding of real-time operational systems.
• Proven track record in designing transactional data models for complex, event-driven workflows.
• Expertise in both relational (Azure SQL, SQL Server) and non-relational (MongoDB, etc.) database technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Azure Data Factory.
• Solid experience with event-driven architectures and real-time data ingestion mechanisms.
• Strong understanding of data lifecycle management and source system transitions (e.g., from legacy to Salesforce).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior business and technical leaders.
• Experience working in high-velocity environments with shifting priorities and evolving requirements.
