About the role:
As a Data Engineer at Daydream, you will be working to build the largest catalog of branded fashion in the world. This role is critical for advancing our data infrastructure to support our AI-driven solutions that significantly enhance the shopping experience for millions of users globally. You will be responsible for ensuring our data systems are innovative, scalable, and aligned with our core values of responsible data usage.
What you'll do:
Build and scale sophisticated data systems and pipelines that ensure the seamless flow of data across our platforms and that support expanding product offerings
Strategic Data Management: Develop and implement data management strategies that align with Daydreamβs business objectives and support our AI and machine learning initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, product managers, and designers to create seamless data-driven features.
Innovation and Best Practices: Promote a culture of innovation and best practices in data engineering, fostering an environment where diverse ideas are celebrated and operational excellence is achieved.
Who you are
Seasoned Data Engineer or Data Platforms Engineer: You have a deep understanding of data engineering principles and practices, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Relevant technologies include: Spark, Kafka or Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Golang, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Protocol Buffers, cloud storage
Technical Expert: Proficient in modern data engineering technologies and architectures, with the ability to design and implement systems at scale.
Production Pipeline Owner: Experienced in supporting production data pipelines and managing outage protocols to ensure minimal downtime and robust recovery strategies.
Strategic Thinker: Capable of setting technical and business goals and leading projects to successful completion.
Collaborative Team Player: Excellent at working across teams and communicating complex ideas clearly and effectively.
Innovator: You thrive on challenges and are driven to apply state-of-the-art data engineering solutions to real-world problems.
Nice to haves:
Direct experience with streaming data processing
Cloud Expertise: Experienced with cloud platforms and technologies such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, particularly in deploying large-scale data solutions.
Ecommerce Experience: Familiarity with the ecommerce sector, understanding its unique data challenges and opportunities to drive innovation.
Advanced Data Handling: Proficiency in handling large-scale datasets, including experience with technologies.
Leadership Experience: Previous leadership roles where you have directly managed teams or led major projects within a technology-driven environment.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the retail industryβs challenges and opportunities, particularly how data can drive transformation.
Real-time Systems: Expertise in building and maintaining real-time, responsive data systems.
Contributions to Open Source: Active involvement in open source projects, especially those related to data engineering, demonstrating community engagement and ongoing learning.
