As a Data Scientist, Data, Insights & Governance, you will utilize a variety of machine learning models and techniques to drive critical business decisions for our partners supporting digital storefronts on Microsoft.com and the Xbox platform. You will work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to develop data science solutions that address complex business problems. This role requires an analytical mindset, solid communication skills, and the ability to execute projects from conception to completion.

Collaboration 

  • Work with business analysts and stakeholders to understand business needs and identify data-driven solutions.
  • Match data science models and techniques to business problems in a way that our stakeholders can understand and action against.

Model Development 

  • Work with analysts, stakeholders, and other data scientists to execute data gathering & validation, feature engineering, model building & assessment, and summarization of results.
  • Deploy models as for ongoing impact.

Communication 

  • Share work plans, progress updates, and results with project stakeholders.
  • Help business understand model assumptions, limitations, and correct interpretation of results.
  • Explain complex technical concepts in clear, concise, and simple language. 


Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years' experience with programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages. 
  • 1+ years' knowledge and experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques. 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Passion for data and a desire to learn and grow in the field of data science. 
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Communication/presentation skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Experience in the e-commerce space 
  • Internship or project experience in data science or a related field. 
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Fabric or AzureML. 

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
