Level Description: This position requires a seasoned professional with 8+ years of database administration experience. The ideal candidate will independently execute a range of complex tasks with minimal supervision, relying on their experience and judgment to meet objectives. A high level of creativity and autonomy is expected.


Job Description:

 

The Database Administrator 3 will develop, maintain, and enhance production databases, leveraging utility programs to monitor database performance, including record distribution and memory availability. Responsibilities include directing programmers and analysts on database modifications, conducting program reviews and corrections, and addressing user queries. The role requires close collaboration with team members to assess the impact of database changes on interconnected systems and cost structures.


Key duties involve optimizing database performance through performance tuning and assisting in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems. The Database Administrator will evaluate user requests for new data elements and integrate them into the shared data environment, ensuring data integrity, managing redundancy, and performing data modeling and prototyping. Responsibilities extend to maintaining data dictionaries, setting data standards, and implementing security and disaster recovery measures.


Other tasks include:

 

· Configuring test databases, libraries, and procedures.

· Developing search strategies and storage solutions.

· Performing security recovery, database design, and implementing database administration standards.

· Supporting accessibility for Electronic Information Resources (EIR) to ensure compliance with accessibility standards, assisting users as needed.


This role is essential to supporting our clients data operations, especially within the Social Services Applications division.


Responsibilities:

 

· Collaborate on the development and maintenance of high-performance database systems.

· Engage in logical database administration, performance tuning, and database development.

· Support and enhance the TIERS application portfolio using technologies such as Java/J2EE, SOAP/REST, Spring, JPA, jQuery, AngularJS, IBM WebSphere, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and more.

· Implement Agile methodologies for database operations and application development.

· Provide on-call support as needed, including nights and weekends.

· Develop Linux shell scripts, CI/CD workflows, and tools to streamline database automation.

· Utilize Oracle APEX and perform SQL/PL-SQL development and optimization.


Candidate Skills and Qualifications:

 

· 8+ years of experience in database implementation, administration, management, and monitoring in production and non-production environments.

· Advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code development and optimization skills.

· Experience with CI/CD workflows and automation tools, particularly Jenkins.

· Strong background in APEX development.

· Proven expertise in performance tuning, data modeling, and advising developers on query optimization.

· In-depth understanding of Oracle internal views, architecture, and data analysis.

· Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues within Oracle 11/19c databases on Solaris/Linux systems.

· Proficient in Oracle SQL Developer and Erwin Modeling for data modeling and schema design.

· Expertise in shell scripting on Linux for database administration support.

· Hands-on experience in Agile methodologies for large-scale database projects.
