POSITION: Long Shore DBA Claims Examiner 

(Only candidates with experience handling US Long Shore and Defense Base Act will be considered)

FULLTIME

LOCATION: Fully Remote 

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 

PAY RANGE: $100-105K/yr. 
(Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Base pay information is based on market location.)

JOB DESCRIPTION: To analyze workers' compensation claims to determine benefits due under the Long Shore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Negotiates settlement of claims within designated authority.

  • Calculates and assigns timely and appropriate reserves to claims; manages reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.

  • Calculates and pays benefits due; approves and makes timely claim payments and adjustments; and settles clams within designated authority level.

  • Prepares necessary federal fillings within statutory limits.

  • Manages the litigation process; ensures timely and cost-effective claims resolution.

  • Coordinates vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must have experience in handling Long Shore and or claims arising under the Defense Base Act.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs
  • Use of computers and technology
