As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, optimizing, and maintaining our data infrastructure to support AI-native applications, ensuring seamless data access and integration.   • Location: USA Remote + Optional Los Angeles Office

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, high-performance data pipelines that power COVU’s AI-driven platform. You’ll work closely with business leaders, engineers, and data scientists to ensure the integrity, accessibility, and security of our data, enabling us to deliver a seamless and intelligent experience to agencies and customers.

You’ll also play a key role in agency onboarding, ensuring smooth data integration and adoption across our platform.

Our Senior Data Engineers are responsible for:

  • Building and optimizing scalable data architecture to support AI-powered applications and real-time analytics.
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to ensure high data integrity and availability.
  • Driving data quality initiatives by developing and monitoring KPIs to proactively identify and resolve data issues.
  • Partnering with business and technical teams to align data strategies with company goals and AI capabilities.
  • Enhancing platform performance by designing APIs and data models that seamlessly integrate with AI-native services.
  • Evaluating and implementing out-of-the-box (OOTB) solutions to streamline data processes and drive efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance and security by implementing best practices for handling PII and sensitive data.
  • Supporting agency onboarding with documentation, technical guidance, and seamless data migration strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in Python, Java, and SQL for data processing and analysis.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying scalable data solutions using AWS (Redshift, AppFlow, Airflow DAGs) or equivalent cloud services.
  • Proficiency with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining BI dashboards (QuickSight, Tableau, or equivalent tools).
  • Deep understanding of data governance, security best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical and business stakeholders to align data strategies.
  • Experience working with large-scale data processing, real-time analytics, and AI-enabled platforms.
  • Familiarity with P&C insurance data models (ACORD, OMG) is a plus.
