Associate/Senior Associate, Data Engineering

Tenvie is a biotechnology company committed to engineering small molecules that transform the treatment of neurological diseases. The company’s foundation is purpose-built with a diverse portfolio of small molecules and a proven team of CNS drug developers to rapidly deliver multiple clinical assets. Tenvie is advancing a pipeline of therapeutics focused on treating neurological, cardiometabolic, and ophthalmic diseases. Its portfolio of wholly owned, highly brain-penetrant, and precision-designed peripherally restricted small molecules address three key drivers of disease: resolving inflammation, rescuing metabolic dysfunction, and restoring lysosomal function. The company’s most advanced programs target NLRP3 and SARM1, with additional programs in preclinical development.
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Data Engineer to enable the discovery of disease-modifying small molecule therapeutics for highly unmet medical needs by using SQL and python to enhance our enterprise data warehouse in Dotmatics and connected lab informatics systems. This role will report to the Senior Director, Technology & Computational Science. This is an excellent opportunity to join a biotech company with groundbreaking work in the field of neuroinflammation, while playing a key role in keeping data access smooth and dependable. This role is onsite.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Closely collaborate with scientists and external partners to understand the connections underlying the data we generate and build an optimal solution that will allow interrogation of that data over the long-term and across programs and study partners
  • Keep data pipelines reliable, validated, and accessible
  • Enable the generation of fit-for-purpose datasets
  • Extract key reports and raw data from data warehouse for Regulatory filings
  • Partner with scientists, listening for recurring data frustrations and translating them into workflow tweaks or enhancements
  • Identify possible blind spots in data generation and collection to build a robust data infrastructure that enables FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reproducible) data access for all employees
  • Train and support users by providing guidance and documentation to enable effective access and capture of data and experimental details across the organization
  • Work with scientists to build data-driven models that probe key scientific questions in the Discovery and/or Development stages of a therapeutic(s)

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, bioengineering, biochemistry, related quantitative concentration, or the equivalent
  • 4+ years industry experience with proven ability to maintain and enhance data engineering tools and workflows
  • Proficiency in programming using python and SQL
  • Hands-on experience supporting and configuring Dotmatics or related lab informatics systems
  • Familiarity with small molecule (nomenclature, structural features) data
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to bridge day-to-day scientific struggles and convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated success in sustaining and iteratively improving production-grade data pipelines
  • Experience with laboratory informatics ecosystems (ELN, LIMS, CDS) and integration patterns
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data warehouses for scalable access and collaboration
  • Knowledge of data modeling and schema design to fine-tune warehouse structures for usability and performance
  • Experience implementing automated QC checks, validation rules, and audit trails within existing workflows
  • Ability to act as a translator between scientists and engineers, ensuring incremental changes reflect real scientific needs

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN 6-12 MONTHS
  • Core pipelines and integrations run smoothly with >99% uptime
  • Automated QC steps catch errors before reaching scientists
  • Scientists report fewer frustrations and more confidence interacting with data pipelines
  • Enhancements to Dotmatics and data analysis pipelines are incremental but impactful
  • Documentation and training maintains best practices throughout the organization, including at vendors
  • Develop and socialize dashboards, reports, and other avenues for enabling team members to answer data-driven questions via self-service

Expected salary range:

  • $120,000-185,000 annual base salary
