Put your backend engineering judgment to work on the AI coding systems that are changing how software gets built.

AI coding tools learn from examples and tests written by experienced engineers. The teams building them need backend developers who can write realistic coding challenges, build checks that tell a working solution from a broken one, and judge AI-written code the way an experienced reviewer would. This is remote, part-time contractor work applying your backend expertise to AI coding evaluation.

What you'll do

• Write realistic backend coding challenges covering new features and bug fixes across services, APIs and codebases

• Build deterministic verifiers that pass correct solutions and reject incorrect ones

• Review AI-written solutions for correctness and quality, using code review, debugging, testing and refactoring skills

• Bring in performance analysis, algorithms and data structures where a task calls for them

Why this is worth your time

• Earn the equivalent of $30–$100 an hour writing backend coding tasks and verifiers for AI systems

• Work on AI coding systems, writing the tasks and verifiers that show where generated code succeeds or fails

• Apply your code review and testing judgment to AI-generated software

• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute

Who this is for

• Fluent in English and able to explain technical ideas clearly

• Professional backend development experience in a language such as Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python or C++, or a similar language

• Experience building scalable services and APIs, finding bugs and system bottlenecks, and implementing complex features

• A strong grasp of algorithms, data structures and computer science fundamentals

• Comfortable refactoring large applications, with strong automated testing, code review and analytical problem-solving skills

• Helpful background includes unit tests, test strategy design, flaky-test diagnosis, or continuous integration pipeline maintenance.

• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; your judgment helps improve AI models.

Pay and details

• $30–$100 per hour equivalent; pay is per accepted task, as an independent contractor

• Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
