Description

BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE:

The DBA Assistant Director, with guidance and mentoring from the DBA Director, assists and supports in the strategic and tactical program leadership to GGU Worldwide’s Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Program. The DBA Assistant Director assists and supports the administrative, quality assurance, scholarship, research, immersion, and partner support activities of GGU Worldwide and the DBA Program. Helps GGU Worldwide Dean, Associate Dean, and Faculty Directors as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Administration and Student Advising

  • Assists the DBA Director and Associate Director in their DBA student support responsibilities and weekly briefings to the GGU Worldwide Curriculum Quality Committee (CQC). 
  • Supports the DBA Director and Associate Director in managing faculty needs, including assisting in the recruitment onboarding of Global Professors of Practice and teaching assistants. 
  • Helps the DBA Director and Associate Director form DBA Dissertation Committees, select qualified members, and administer the dissertation process from topic proposal to final approved dissertation. 
  • Helps with DBA student inquiries, concerns, advising, and coaching.

Quality Assurance and Assessment

  • Supports the DBA Director and Associate Director, and Director of Assessment with quality assurance and academic assessment activities.
  • Assists the DBA Director and the DBA Associate Director with formulating and executing DBA program guidelines, policies, and learning outcomes.
  • Helps DBA Director and DBA Associate Director with Learning Assessment Reports (LARs), Program Review Reports (PRRs), Institutional Review Board (IRB) practices, and other related reports.

Journal of International DBA Studies

  • Acts as lead editor of GGU Worldwide-European Business Institute (EBU)’s peer-review Journal of International DBA Studies (JIDS).
  • Manages JIDS Open Journal System (OJS) and responds to inquiries.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with GGU and EBU faculty and editorial staff.
  • Prepares Call for Contributors, provides APA leadership, and manages peer review process.
  • Leads in enhancing the scholar-practitioner reputation and standing of JIDS.

Doctoral Symposiums, Immersions, and Proposal Defense

  • Acts as moderator and organizes DBA Symposiums (Topic Presentations) and other GGU Worldwide research-related activities.
  • Involves faculty and coordinates with GGU Staff to ensure DBA Symposium event is included for all GGU Campus Week activity calendar.
  • Coordinates with GGU Worldwide education partners to solicit and screen DBA Symposium submissions.
  • Co-organizes and collaborates with the Associate Director of Administration and Partnership Support and the Immersion Program Coordinator, in the implementation of GGU Worldwide immersions.
  • Attends, participates and collaborates with partners on dissertation proposal defense presentations.

Others

  • Helps Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Associate Director for Partner Support with business development, articulation, and partner relations.
  • Supports GGU Worldwide Dean, Associate Dean, and Faculty Directors as needed.
  • Provides operational and academic assistance to the LLM-SJD program as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education requirement:
    • Terminal doctoral degree in business, education, public administration, nonprofit management, leadership or a related field
  • Years of experience:
    • 5-10 years of progressively responsible experiences in higher education, academic administration, or international education 
  • Knowledge of:
    • Curriculum support and student success software and systems. 
    • Scholarly journal peer-review process
  • Skills and abilities:
    • Proficiency with learning management systems and educational technologies 
    • Excellent analytical and communication skills 
    • Strong writing and editing skills and publication record
    • Attention to detail 
    • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills 
    • Strong people, inter-cultural, and cross-cultural skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
    • Proficient in data analysis, report writing, and APA style guide
    • Proficiency in AI tools and digital technology a plus
    • Linguistic abilities beyond English a plus
