About the role
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team and be responsible for measuring, understanding, and helping optimize Coalitionβs insurance business. You will use analytics, experimentation, and modern statistical techniques to help us understand and improve our cyber insurance customer experience in order to grow our revenue in a safe and efficient manner.
This role will partner closely with key product, engineering, and insurance stakeholders to identify emerging trends, prioritize opportunities, and translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies that influence product and operational roadmaps.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional analytics projects that uncover insights and optimization opportunities across the end-to-end customer journey.
- Design and analyze experiments; establish best practices for test design, power, guardrails, and interpretation.
- Define, document, and maintain core funnel metrics; build automated dashboards and reporting used by leadership.
- Analyze disparate data sources and synthesize findings into clear narratives with recommended actions.
- Develop data models and scalable analytical workflows that improve reliability, repeatability, and time-to-insight.
- Influence product and revenue leadership with data-backed recommendations and OKR tracking.
- Mentor junior analysts/scientists and contribute to team best practices, code quality, and documentation.
Skills and Qualifications
- 6+ years in analytics or data science with demonstrated product or revenue impact.
- Expert SQL, including complex modeling, performance optimization, and clear documentation.
- Proficiency in Python or R for analysis, experimentation, and reproducible workflows.
- Strong grasp of statistical methods: hypothesis testing, experiment design, causal thinking, and interpretation.
- Experience with BI tools such as Looker or Tableau; ability to build reliable, executive-ready dashboards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to translate technical work for non-technical audiences.
Bonus Points
- Exposure and usage of AI Assisted coding IDEs like Cursor or Github Copilot
- Domain experience in insurance, insurtech, fintech, or adjacent regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Looker, Amplitude, Google Analytics, Marketo, Salesforce, Segment, or Zuora.
- Experience with analytics workflow tools such as dbt or Airflow.
- Exposure to causal inference methods and quasi-experimental designs.
Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $134,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $198,475/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
