Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced technical writer to support the development of training materials and documentation for Toruk Max (TMX) Counter Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) systems delivery. In this role, you will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, instructional designers, and training developers to create high-quality content that supports the effective training and fielding of new defense technologies and systems.
This role is ideal for a mission-focused technical communicator passionate about supporting the warfighter by ensuring effective and accurate training delivery. You’ll play a key role in fielding new capabilities and ensuring service members are fully equipped to operate and maintain next-generation systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation in support of new military systems training, including but not limited to:
- Training manuals
- User guides
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Interactive courseware and instructor-led training materials
- Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation tailored for military audiences
- Ensure documentation complies with military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-40051, MIL-HDBK-1222) and applicable training development frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAT)
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including systems engineers, developers, and training personnel to gather source material and validate content
- Participate in training development reviews, validation events, and technical demonstrations as required
- Organize and manage documentation libraries and version control of training materials
- Integrate graphics, diagrams, and multimedia as needed to enhance training effectiveness
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a defense, aerospace, or military training environment
- Understanding of military terminology, documentation standards, and training systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and system architecture diagrams
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience with military instructional design or training development
- Knowledge of UAS/ CUAS technology preferred
