Work on the cutting edge of AI coding systems, on your own schedule, and get paid for the engineering judgment you already have.

The AI coding systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real software engineers. The teams building them need engineers who can create realistic coding tasks, judge how well the AI handles them, write the technical answer a professional would give, and explain exactly where the AI falls short. Your judgment becomes part of how the next generation of coding models works. This is that work, done remotely around your current job.

What you'll do

• Develop coding tasks and review them for coverage of real software development problems

• Troubleshoot bugs across Python, Java, Rust, C++, Go and TypeScript codebases, then fix them

• Implement features, refactor existing code, and improve software performance, maintainability and adaptability

• Assess model outputs, check code for correctness, and provide clear annotations, technical reasoning and feedback

Why this is worth your time

• Get paid the equivalent of $50–$100 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job

• Work directly with frontier AI coding tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most software engineers will not have for years

• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping software engineering, and the engineers who understand it from the inside will lead that change

• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute

Who this is for

• Strong skills in algorithms and data structures, plus competitive programming and coding-problem analysis

• Highly capable in a minimum of one of these languages: Python, Java, Rust, C++, Go or TypeScript

• Fluent English, with strong analytical ability and a track record of careful code checks, clear communication, and work on open-source or collaborative software projects

• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; your judgment helps improve AI models.

Pay and details

• $50–$100 per hour equivalent; pay is per accepted task, as an independent contractor

• Under 20 hours a week, you choose when; fully remote, United States

• Minimum weekly submission requirements apply.

How to apply

1. Apply on OpenTrain (about two minutes; upload your resume).

2. Complete a short application on the hiring platform.

3. If shortlisted, take a conversational AI interview with technical questions and a coding challenge, whenever it suits you. Most people hear back within days.
