Summary
As the Data Governance Product Owner on the DEMI team, you will be responsible for maximizing
the value of, and supporting the execution of, the data governance program and initiatives across
the organization. This involves developing and maintaining a strategic vision for enterprise data
products (e.g., dashboards, data pipelines, APIs, reconciliation tools, and quality scorecards) that
deliver measurable business value. This role will communicate product direction clearly to
stakeholders and team members through roadmaps, presentations, and regular updates – including
progress reports on product priorities, timelines, and outcomes. You will manage the backlog for
data governance and act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams,
translating high-level requirements into detailed tasks and quantifiable results. You will work
closely with data engineers, analysts, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to ensure data
quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role is critical in enabling trusted
data use across the organization.
Qualifications
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Data Science, or Business Administration
Work Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Project Manager, or Supervisor of a technical team.
- Proven track record of delivering successful data products or platforms that drive business value and/or user adoption.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, user stories, and product roadmaps.

- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Agile/Scrum experience.
- This role involves interaction and collaboration with other departments and requires excellent judgment and interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Define and Communicate Product Vision:
- Develop and maintain a strategic vision for data products.
- Communicate direction for data products clearly to stakeholders and team members.
- Provide regular updates on product progress, priorities, and roadmaps for data products.
Prioritize Requirements and Manage Backlog:
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize data product requirements.
- Create stories, refine stories, and track the progress of stories within our backlog for work related to tickets, feature enhancements, process improvements, and long-term data management strategies.
- Ensure we are clearly communicating technical feasibility when requests come through, for proposed features within data products, enhancements to data products, or data changes –such as, pipeline changes, data monitoring, dashboard changes, etc.
Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Facilitate alignment among data engineers, analysts, scientists, and business units to deliver value-driven data products (i.e., real-time operational dashboards, revenue reconciliation tools, or compliance scorecards).
- Partner with data and security teams to ensure adherence to internal data security policies and external data protection laws and regulations – such as, HIPPA requirements, SOC 2, internal Data Standards, and Data Policies (i.e., AI Policy, Data Classification Policy, Data Retention Policy, etc.).
Drive Product Delivery and Iteration:
- Support timely delivery and iterative improvement of data products, incorporating feedback and maintaining quality standards.
- Define and track data product specific KPIs (e.g., query performance, data latency, data tool adoption rates, and data quality scores) to evaluate success and guide continuous improvement.
- Use data and feedback to guide enhancements to data products, ensuring they remain relevant, reliable, and effective.
Support User Adoption and Change Management:
- Create and deliver training materials, documentation, and user guides to promote adoption of data products and tools and ensure business users can effectively leverage data products.
- Partner with business stakeholders to manage changes, gather feedback, and drive consistent utilization across teams.

Physical Requirements
- Office Environment: Tasks may be conducted within a climate-controlled office setting.
- Physical Activity: The role may require the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials, supplies, and equipment (up to 25 lbs.) Duties typically involve a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, with frequent changes in position.
- Travel: Travel may be required, including travel between facility locations, remote facilities, and out-of-town destinations as needed. Travel time required up to 10%.
- Safety Equipment: May require the use of safety equipment for infection prevention.
