POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Data Governance will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an organizational strategic data and analytics governance framework for policies, standards and practices to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection for our data to meet overall business needs. This position serves as a curator of the overall governance platform for data and analytics governance, data ownership/stewardship, data quality and access and protection issues and will work closely with business, operational, clinical and clinical research functional area leadership to improve quality and value of core data and analytics assets as well as support the strategic requirements of Sound Physician Group.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• This role is part of the data & analytics leadership team reporting directly to the CDAO and in direct service to the enterprise analytics governance council
• Key player in the setup and administration of an organizational data governance program initiative to promote and manage data as an asset, and building a data-informed culture
• Responsible for leading and managing all organization-wide data and analytics governance activities and will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of enterprise data assets
• Works directly with the SCRUM leadership team to coordinate priorities.
• Responsible for establishing and driving a data governance program strategy, operating framework, and roadmap
• Work closely with organization leaders and business teams to ensure adoption of appropriate data and analytics governance training to their teams
• Improve data literacy across the organization, and enable self service
• Establish customized data and analytics governance workflows
• Define and work with stakeholders to build and activate a governance program communication and change management plan
• Promote and administer policies and processes required to manage data and analytics assets
• Collaborate with data owners, stewards, curators, and other governance stakeholders to provide effective and efficient facilitation and guidance for governance operating practices
• Actively participates in maturing the data and analytics governance program and supports transparent documentation of and communication of data lineage, metadata management, master data management, etc.
• Ensures standardization, consistency and commonality for the data definitions, attributes, metrics and assets
• Partner with data management and analytics delivery teams to ensure self-service and governance operating processes are embedded in the solutions development lifecycle and program adoption
• Provide self-service and governance training materials for the organizational data fluency needs
• Participating in Business/Functional Workgroups for establishing data governance with their metrics and reporting needs
• Create governance training and consulting materials for work groups and data citizens
• Participate in project teams as necessary and assist with timely delivery and project timelines.
• Lead Data Governance team members directly to this role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of Data Quality Principles and Methodologies, Data Profiling, Data Lineage, Metric Tractability, etc.
• Knowledge of Data Governance Concepts, Processes, Policies & Framework
• Knowledge of Data Security and Access Policies and Practices
• Experience in Executing Data Governance or Stewardship Programs
• Experience in a customer facing role (internal or external)
• Experience working and bringing Executive to a consensus
• Experience using any Data Governance product suite is a desired
• Experience in Metric Development, Dashboard Creation and Automation using Governance Tools is a plus
• Project management skills and experience with Agile Project Management methodology is preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, information systems, information technology, business administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 7-9 years of experience in Data Governance & Stewardship, Enterprise Data Management or Master Data Management. Healthcare experience is preferred.
