Purpose:
Serves as a SQL Database Administrator within the Neurocognitive Assessment Branch HQ office. Responsible for managing and maintaining databases using SQL, ensuring data integrity, security, performance, and ensuring systems perform as they should by monitoring database operation and providing support while also potentially collaborating with developers and analysts. As the DBA, you will ensure that data analysts and other users can easily use databases to find the information they need. They also ensure that day-to-day data operations are coordinated with ANAM Operations Manager, ensure the quality and integrity, and tracks all requests and updates. Utilizes industry-leading technology to optimize the operational efficiency of ANAM Field Operations and Support Team Members.
Provides leadership, vision, and strategic and tactical planning for execution of IT or IS programs and projects, affecting the Neurocognitive Assessment Branch.
Projects are often ongoing over multiple years and evolve rapidly in response to changing regulations, requirements, and changing needs. The customer may be an external body, such as a federal or DoD agency. The SQL DBA coordinates with the Data Manager, ISSM, Systems Analysts, customers, and executing organizations to ensure the accuracy, protection, and redundancy of databases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Database Management: Installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL databases.
- Performance Tuning: Optimizing database performance through query optimization and resource management.
- Security: Implementing and maintaining database security measures, including user access control and data encryption.
- Data Integrity: Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data within the database.
- Backup and Recovery: Implementing and maintaining database backup and recovery procedures to prevent data loss.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving database issues, such as performance bottlenecks and errors.
- Collaboration: Working with developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and implement solutions.
- Compliance: Ensuring that the database and its operations comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Monitoring: Monitoring database performance and resource usage to identify potential problems.
- Documentation: Maintaining documentation of the database structure, procedures, and security protocols.
- SQL Proficiency: Possessing a strong understanding of SQL and its various dialects.
- Tools: Using tools like SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for administrative tasks.
- Building and managing partnerships and strategic relationships within the Department of Defense (DOD), customers, other sites, additional government agencies, academic institutions, and/or private industries
- Applying expertise to develop and implement plans that cover the databaseβs programmatic work from conception to completion.
- Be responsible and pay close attention to detail to minimize productivity challenges.
- Perform well in team settings with other employees and managers to reach all organizational objectives in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
- Assist with the testing, adoption, and rollout of innovative technology.
- Maintain accountability and access requirements for company projects, current and future.
- Conducts quality control of IT Specialist Projects
- Function as a backup escalation point for the Project and Operations Managers and perform additional duties and tasks as required
