About the Role
Erewhon is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the company’s data infrastructure and play a hands-on role in building and scaling our data and reporting systems. This role is responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining our end-to-end data architecture and delivering clean, usable data to end users and tools. In addition to technical execution, this individual will define the roadmap for data at Erewhon, support cross-functional business needs, and manage data reporting responsibilities. This position blends strategic direction-setting with deep technical implementation and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data engineering principles, experience working with big data technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain Erewhon’s data warehouse, ensuring data quality, scalability, and performance
- Design, build, and monitor scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
- Integrate data from a wide range of sources, including Oracle, MongoDB, Google Analytics, and various other internal operational systems
- Ensure high-quality, consistent data is delivered to downstream platforms (including PowerBI reporting)
- Define and execute the roadmap for Erewhon’s data infrastructure and analytics ecosystem
- Serve as the technical lead and architect for data initiatives across marketing, operations, product, and finance
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions
- Oversee data analyst focused on reporting and dashboard development using Power BI
- Establish best practices for data governance, access management, and documentation
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with modern data warehouses (BigQuery strongly preferred)
- Experience with data orchestration platforms like Dagster is a strong plus
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure)
- Familiarity with both relational databases (e.g., Oracle, Sybase) and NoSQL systems (e.g., MongoDB)
- Expertise in SQL and Python for data transformation and pipeline development
- Experience integrating and managing data across marketing and analytics platforms (e.g., Braze, Google Analytics)
- Proficiency with BI tools, ideally Power BI
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute complex technical projects
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
- Prior experience managing or mentoring data professionals is a plus
