VP, Architecture & Data Engineer - Horizon Media

Overview
We are seeking an expert-level Technical Data Engineer to architect and implement our modern data stack at Horizon Media. This role will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing our data pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran, while ensuring data quality, scalability, and business value. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise and hands-on experience with these technologies to drive our data transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture and design of scalable, secure, and cost-effective data solutions, including data lakes and warehouses
  • Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines and workflows using Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran
  • Incorporate orchestration frameworks (e.g., dbt Cloud, Airflow, Dagster) and distributed computing tools (e.g., Apache Spark) where appropriate
  • Support diverse data use cases including product analytics, reporting, and machine learning
  • Establish and enforce best practices around modularity, testing, version control, and CI/CD in data engineering
  • Collaborate with business leaders, analysts, and data scientists to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Champion data quality, reliability, and documentation standards across systems

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team management role
  • Proven success building and maintaining data lakes and enterprise-scale data platforms
  • Strong expertise in Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and SQL performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Dagster
  • Familiarity with distributed processing (Apache Spark) and file formats like Parquet
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD for data pipelines
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to drive alignment across technical and business teams
  • Media, advertising, or marketing data experience is a plus

Salary Range

$180,000.00 - $230,000.00
