  • Hybrid 3 days/week, Full time M-F 8am-5pm PST/EST

FairSquare is continuing to grow its Data Engineering Department and has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Data Engineer. Reporting to the Manager, Data Engineering, the Data Engineer will be focusing on understanding the data flow across source systems, assisting in integrating data for operational use and creating an intuitive and highly integruous data environment to support modeling, analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • The lead data engineer will participate in the on-going data warehouse implementation and work closely with the data and risk teams including analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders. This includes the full DW lifecycle of requirements gathering, data modeling, data mapping, ETL, QA and maintenance.
  • The primary responsibility will be designing scalable data models and ETL/ELT process, as well as owning Snowflake warehouse performance, optimization, and governance. Additionally, there will be tasks to create pipelines within AWS for varying data sources and destinations. This role will also be involved in the design, development and maintenance of reverse ETL pipelines.
  • Other responsibilities include supporting and mentoring other data engineers, managing CI/CD pipelines through git, administrative tasks for project management, data sourcing, responding to and resolving alerts quickly, documentation, and other tasks to support the data driven nature of the company.
  • The lead data engineer will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical specifications and work streams as well as serve as a technical point person for platform-related projects and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • 7+ years' experience working as a Data Engineer; data warehousing, ETL, pipelines, governance, modeling.
    Expertise in Snowflake, dbt, git and AWS required.
  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL, data governance required.
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake utilities, SnowSQL, SnowPipe, techniques using UDFs.
  • Experience in Snowflake administration (resource monitors, RBAC, virtual warehouse sizing, query performance tuning, time travel).
  • Experience with designing and implementing data quality metrics.
  • Experience in git integrations with dbt and JIRA.

Physical Demands:

  • Working in a temperature-controlled office environment
    Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time while viewing multiple computer screen monitors
  • Potential lifting of boxes around 5-10lbs
